What Causes Continuous Yawning When Using CPAP Machine On Ramp Up Mode?
I have been using a CPAP machine for one week. It is seton auto ramp starting out at a settng of 4 and then ramps up to 9. When it ramps up I can t stop yawning. In order to yawn without opening my mouth which I can t do, I suck lots of air up and out of my nose. It happens over and over again. This is uncomfortable and keeps me fom going to sleep. What can I do about this problem?
As per my clinical experience, the continuous yawning when using CPAP machine on ramp up mode indicates hyperventilation, loss of carbon dioxide and cerebral hypoxia from secondary changes of blood pH. Have to discuss the issue with your consultant for setting the precise dose number to combat the issue of yawning.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
