What Causes Cotton String In Bowels Post Full Lap Hysterectomy?
Hi I had a hysterectomy in August , I have been having pretty bad pain when my bowels move. Not with a bowel movement but when things are digesting I m guessing. Today I had a bowel movement after a severe sharp pain and when I looked in the toilet there was a long cotton string inside my poop. I washed it off to make sure it was string and it looked like a stitch. Can stitches pass through your bowels? I had a full lap hysterectomy with vaginal cuff. Thank you
It is not possible for a stitch to pass through the bowel and come out in stools. It is probable that you ingested a string of fiber in your diet which came out in stools. The pain can be related to your surgery if it has been a short time since the lap hysterectomy was done.
It is suggested that you go back to your doctor and take precautions to have soft diet and avoid constipation. It will help to get examined in detail if the movements are more when your digestion is in process. If the pain is significant then a CT scan abdomen can be suggested. Please do not worry.
