What Causes Cough Along With Phlem?

i HAVE A NAGGING COUGH AND HAD IT FOR A WEEK. I ALSO HAVE A HEART CONDITION, I COUGH UP PHLEM SOMETIMES. I DO NOT HAVE A FEVER, IT IS JUST ANNOYING. MY BACKHURTS WHEN I COUGH, BUT I DID FRACTURE A VERTEBRATE IN DEC. THAT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO ABOUT IT. I DO TAKE GENERIC CORICIDEN OCCASIONALLY. SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR. THANK YOU. MARY LOU

Hi Mary. So its around a week of productive cough without fever. If its not causing breathlessness it is fine. But you have a back ache when you cough which like you said could be due to the fracture and also if the chest infection involves the lung wall which is called pleurisy. Please see a doctor to be investigated for the same. Take care.
