What Causes Cough And Breathing Difficulties?

Hi , I am 23 years old , my height is 5.6 and weight is 65 kgs.I am working in a MNC.I am having breathing problem mainly during night hours. Till 12th standard i was living with my family in my home town. During that time m having so much sneezing and cough whenever i come in contact of dust. Then in my graduation time I use to stay in hostel only and there is so much greenary around my campus.There also have faced same problem but there is no dust/pollution in my surrounding. My family doctor said that some times in certain atmospheric conditions this happens. In last 6 month this problem has increased and at times medicines which i was taking before this are not at all working .Now m living in a place where 5-6 months in a year it rains, pollution is less , not much cold but humidity is there. Please suggest me solution for the same.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Noted the history about your 19 year old son and understood your concerns. My thoughts and suggestions are as below. You are 23 years now and are suffering from allergic problems since you were in 12 th standard. You already know the factors that instigate or enhance the problems hence avoiding these factors is the basic key of success in management of allergic problems of any sort. Also needed is to increase or boost the immunity to the extent that the body takes care of allergens to have reduced or no symptoms. Thirdly, take the nasal sprays, oral medications whenever necessary so that the life becomes easy. Also get the CBC of blood done to see for Eosinophil count, IGg for allergy level. CT scan of nose and sinuses helps to see for any secondary changes so that oral steroids can take care of such problems too.
