General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most common causes for persistent cough are post nasal drip, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) and asthma.

Post nasal drip is the most common of the three, some persons may have more than one problem causing the cough.

In some persons the drip may not be obvious.

Using topical steroid nasal sprays may help eg nasonex, avamys, nasocort may help , along with an antihistamine

It may take 1 to 2 weeks ,in some persons, to notice any effect

I hope this helps
