What Causes Cough And Increased Oxygen Level In Chest Post Heart Surgery?

2 weeks ago I had my 2nd heart valve surgery. (Titanium Valves this time). Every since my surgery I have been coughing and it sounded like something in my lungs. After my 1st light cardio workout this morning I started coughing worse and my lungs seemed to have something moving around in them. After more coughing something that looks like a wet noodle, (about the size of a quarter) came flying out onto my keyboard. Now my cough is dry and my Oxygen level has went way up???

Hello,

Most probably it will be.a chunk of mucus. You can consult a physician and plan for an X-ray chest to rule out any chest congestion.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
