What Causes Cough And Sinus Infection After Being Treated For Bronchitis?
Age 46; 5' 11"; 200lbs. Treated for bronchitis last week with amoxicillin (sic) and a steroid. Stopped taking the antibiotic after day 8 when hands, feet, and groin began burning and itching. After 4 days, itching persists and the bronchitis seemed to have migrated to a sinus infection (still coughing). During follow-up doctor visit, doc indicated that it may be a viral condition as opposed to medication allergy. Thoughts?
I would recommend further course of antibiotics and antihistaminic as I think your bronchitis is not over completely. you must take antibiotics until your bronchitis resolve. regarding sinus infection, I would recommend nasal douching with saline water twice a day. it will help clearing all secretion and opens the natural Ostia of sinus. and if you are having antibiotic allergy then change the antibiotic but complete the course , don't stop in Midway as it will create drug resistance.
