What Causes Cough, Breathlessness And Post Nasal Drip In An Anxiety Disorder Patient?
Hello - I do have generalized anxiety disorder. But recently I have been having a cough. and feel like I cannot get enough air sometimes when I breath. I have been to the doctor several times for this issue. Months ago they hooked me up to an ekg machine, and said heart is fine. I went back with same issue, they check and said I have post nasal drip from allergies. they advised me to take an allergy pill daily. I have been doing this put the itchy chest cough and shortness of breath is still here. I took my anti anxiety medicine and maybe helped a little but definitely the problem is still present. My chest itself is tender to the tough and has been for over 6 months
If the chest is tender then it is possible that there may be costochondritis which is inflammation of the cartilage between the sternum and the ribs, treated with NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or cataflam or naproxen.
Post nasal drip is the most common reason for chronic coughing, treated with nasal sprays such as nasonex or avamys or flonase and/or oral antihistamine/decongestant combinations (e.g. zyrtec d, allegra d, claritine d).

Some other causes would be asthma, GERD, non-asthmatic eosinophilic bronchitis. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
