What Causes Cough, Cold And Upper Respiratory Problem?

I have had a cold and upper respiratory thing going on since January 1st, yes literally I have been sick all year!! I have been using over the counter mess but cannot get rid of this... my cough in particular. What should I do? Could this be bronkitis?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
As per your description you are having chronic cough for more than eight weeks,it need to be evaluated to find out the exact cause.
I suggest you to consult a general practitioner or a pulmonologist and get the following things done.
1.A sputum examination to rule out TB(tuberculosis)
2.A chest X-ray to look for any lung pathologies.
3.you need to start a short course of antibiotics like "levofloxacin" for five to seven days.
4.Antihistamines like cetrezine provide symptomatic relief.
You might need other investigtations like spirometry or CT scan based on your preliminary evaluation.
As of now you can do the following:
1.Avoid dust and cold.
2.Quit smoking and avoid spicy food stuffs.
3.You can have nebulization from your nearby nursing home which provide symptomatic relief
4.Antihistamines and nasal decongestants if necessary.

Hope this information helps.
Regards.
