What Causes Cough, Sinusitis And Headaches Despite Taking Steroids And Antibiotics?

I have been sick for over a month now. atarted with a cough for 2 weeks. Had a chest X-ray and was given a Z-pack, 5 days of steroids, inhaler. No change. Actually got more sick. Started having major face and sinus pain all the way to my teeth and jaw, headaches, Green and yellow phlem. I am coughing stuff up as well. Went back to the doctor and got a 10 day strong antibiotic. Again no change. After trying to see another doctor recently i was given a steroid shot and doxycyclin. I am 3 days on and no change again. ALl symptoms remain and i am showing no improvement. I am having a real hard time breathing and the sinus problems are so bad. Its been well over 4 weeks. What could be causing this. I have never been sick where 1 round of an antibiotic did not work?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cough, sinusitis and headaches despite taking steroids and antibiotics . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to certain reasons , but in your case the symptoms are probably occurring due to sinusitis that too due to viral infection . Sometimes the low immunity can also extend the course sinusitis. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay before infection get spread into eustachian tube . Doctor may order CT scan , throat swab test along with viral culture test . Doctor may prescribe antiviral drug in case of viral infection along with decongestant and expectorant . For now take steam several times a day , take paracetamol and do warm saline gargles . Take proper diet to boost the immunity.
