What Causes Cough, Tightness In Throat, Chest And Popping In Ears?
Hi, I was given a zpak and gnereic equivalent of cheratussin for an upper respiratory infection I have one day left for my zpak and the cough is still insane and there s a tightness in my throat/chest my ears re still popping it doesn t seem that the meds are working I took the cheratussin but I can t sleep because when I lay down everything gets tight and I begun to uncontrollably cough. Should I go back to the doctor s? And right now to sleep could I take Benadryl eventhough I just took 5ml of the cheratussin.
You are according to history having URTI like infection ... But here bronchitis chance are more .
Your Work up needed with ..... -auscultation -physical examination -CBC (for eosinophila ) -Chest x ray (to look for consolidation ) -spirometry (for assessing severity of bronchitis if present ) -ASO titre -sputum examination only if needed -throat swab only if needed
Here in your case decongested can be given like benadryl.. Steam inhalation done three times a day
If pneumonic consolidation present suitable antibiotic needed
If bonchi constriction present from allergy than short term steroid or bronchodilator needed
Take care
Advise : Pulmonologist consultation for examination
