What Causes Cough To Taste Like Blood?

Have had sinus issues for 2-3 mos., with drainage in back of throat. Most likely a sinus infection. Have had them often. After jogging in the cold for a very short distance, 4 days ago, have had a cough and tastes like blood or metal. Nothing is coming up, maybe just a bit of flem now and then. Cough is more frequent and deeper. Coughing is starting to make me more fatigued. Lungs itch.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having cough which tastes like blood and probable reason for this is accumulation of mucous in sinuses and leads to blockage of nose as the sinuses drains through nose. Sometimes bad taste in mouth can also be caused by dental infection. I would suggest you to take steam inhalation three times a day. You should take proper course of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medications and take decongestant nasal sprays as it will relief stuffy nose. Do nasal saline rinses and maintain hygiene. Visit ENT specialist once and get complete examination done. Go for paranasal sinus X-ray and start treatment accordingly. Doctor may also refer you to dentist for dental infection.
