What Causes Cough With Blood In Sputum After Smoking?

hello, my throat has been having issues over the past weeks. I coughed up blood a couple of times after smoking. I panicked and went to the doctor which x-rayed my throat and chest, and did a blood test. Everything was normal; he gave me naprox, which ive been taking for a week. However, my throat still feels very weird . I smoke a cigarette and it swells up and tightens, feels like this most of the day, but worsens after smoking.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cough with blood in sputum after smoking which is known as hemoptysis. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like bronchitis , lung abscess, emphysema, mitral valve stenosis and acid reflux can produce such symptoms. Need I would suggest you to consult chest specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , chest X-ray , bronchoscopy , physical examination , biopsy and complete blood count . Doctor may prescribe for treatment as per diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics for pneumonia or tuberculosis , chemotherapy and/or radiation for lung cancer, steroids for inflammatory conditions or refer you to gastroenterologist if he find problem to be related with acid reflux .
