What Causes Cough With Sinus Infection?

I had a sinus infection about a month ago, was prescribed an antibiotic but I still have this cough. Every time I start to laugh, I break out in a cough. When I drink an alcoholic drink, I start to cough as soon as I swallow. Could it be I have some residue in my lungs?
