What Causes Coughing Of Blood?

My 18 yr old grand daughter developed a cough while living in Boston last winter. She still has it and sometimes coughs up blood. Should I be concerned? The cough is not dependent on activity. She can be sitting or laying down. It gets worse when she is more active.

Repeated episodes of coughing of blood needs evaluation to rule out any underlying lung disease like bronchiectasis, tuberculosis or any lung infection,malignancy etc. Consult your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
