What Causes Coughing Up Blood And Throat Discomfort After A Back Injury?

I had tried a flip off a cliff and had back flopped fairly bad. I then started coughing up blood but I have no pain in my breatging or too my head, I just realized my throats a little scratchy. The amount of blood that is coming out has really decreased to about nothing. Is it worth seeing a doctor if I have no pain and little blood is coming out?

Hello,

Back injury sequences depend upon the level of injury with impact of injury. If there is single episode of coughing up of blood slightly that may be sequence of excess ratching of trachea through coughing, but if on persistent basis , has to be reported to an ER.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
