What Causes Coughing Up Of Mucus Post An Esophageal Stent Placement?

my mother had an esophagal stent due to breast cancer tumors pressing on her esophagus. The procedure went well, but now she is coughing up mucous and is worried there is a blockage. What does the regurgitating of mucous mean, and how can she stop that reflex so she can start eating again?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Post esophageal stenting with regurgitation could be due to blockage of stent or enlargement of tumor pressing the esophagus.Once she starts regurgitating, there is high chance of aspiration which can lead to pnemonia.Better to undergo upper GI Scopy to see for pathology.
