Following a doctor visit, my husband has been using an Ventolin inhaler twice daily to deal with an asthma diagnosis. Almost immediately he started coughing up phlegm, at times uncontrollably, and developed a low-grade fever 98.9. Over the past 2 days, he has developed severe fatigue, sleeping all day long, and his temperature is now 99.7 and he has a severe headache. He is not nauseous and has been eating and drinking liquids, but little else. His doctor is not in his office today (Wednesday) so we plan on calling tomorrow, but I am concerned. Should I be or can we wait until tomorrow? My husband takes many other medications for tinnitus, type 2 diabetes, and cholesterol issues. Could this just be a bad cold? I suggested he stop using the inhaler until he speaks with his doctor.
