What Causes Coughing With Wheezing, itchy Throat And Metallic Taste In Mouth.?

I have been sick for about 3 weeks now. I went to the dr and was told I had chest congestion and a sinus infection. I was giving coughing meds, inhaler, and antibiotics. That was 2 1/2 weeks ago and now for the last 3 days I have horrible pain in my rib cage and back areas. I still have coughing fits with wheezing, itchy throat, and a metallic taste in my mouth. Plus still coughing up yellow mucus???

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As you describe in your query you have coughing with wheezing, itchy throat and metallic taste in mouth which is due to upper respiratory tract infection and metallic taste is due to sinus infection and use of antibiotics. Taste of the mouth will get to the normal as soon as we remove the causative factor. For now eat fresh fruits and chew hard peppermint candy. Do warm saline gargles. Visit ENT specialist once and get complete examination done along with blood tests and start treatment accordingly. Take proper course of antibiotics along with antiinflammatory medications.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
