I have a cracking sound/ popping sound when I touch around my left ear last night. Today it feels itcy and now my right ear feels itchy. I only hear cracking in right and when I touch or have a big yawn. I just noticed a slight pressure increase around ear area. Some slight pain in front and behind left ear. I do not want to go to ER as I do not feel it is warrented. I have no issues going to immediate care after weekend. Just looking for what it could be.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain crackling rpopping sound in ears especially while yawning that causes pressure changes on either side of eardrum and pressure inside ear seems to be most probably due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum and blocked eustachian tube..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI, otoscopy etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, oral as well as nasal decongestants like Xylometazoline nasal sprays. Along with it steam inhalation and chewing chewing gum can help.. Avoid excess water exposure to ears as it can further cause infection and discomfort..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
