What Causes Cracking Sound In Forearm And Discomfort In Wrist Movement?

my son was arm wrestling...he heard and felt a pop on his forearm. Now he is crying every time he moves it. it s not swollen and he is able to move his fingers. but when he tries to rotate his wrist he starts to complain. from what i read on the internet, it sounds like a possible tear. if so, there is really no treatment but rest and ice. Is that correct? is there a need to take him to the doctor today? or should I wait a couple of days to see if it improves and if doesn t, then take him?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cracking sound in forearm and discomfort in wrist movement . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like Tendinitis , Tennis elbow , carpal tunnel , joint dislocation or fracture . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon without any delay , because sometimes fractured fragments or dislocated joint cause damage to soft tissues . Doctor will order x-ray , CT scan or physical examination . Doctor will fix the abnormality by plaster , splint or bandage . Doctor will also prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory or vitamin supplement for quick recovery . For now do not move your arm and take ibuprofen for pain .
