What Causes Cracking Sound In The Foot Followed By Ankle Swelling?

About two weeks ago i was running and i went to turn but I must ve did something wrong because my left foot bent over and made a very loud carcking noise. It hurt like crazy the first week, i couldnt walk at all the furst day. But each day went better and better. Now two weeks later, i can even run, i still have slight pain when i twist it a certain way but other than that im fine. The problem is is that i still have a very big bump on the outside of my foot on my ankle. I want to know if there s anyway i can make it go down soon?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The lesion would be due to the formation of scar tissue/fibroid tissue due to the trauma.

This is not unusual.

It can take weeks to months in some cases for resolution to occur.

The use of warm compresses and anti inflammatory medication would help even if there is no pain.
Example of anti inflammatory medications are cataflam, naproxen, ibuprofen

I hope this helps
