What Causes Crackling Sound In Ears On Movement Of Jaws?

When I move my mouth up and down or side to side I hear a scratching, crackling noise inside my ear. There s no pain and my ear is not clogged. It seems like it could be water but I am not sure, and if it is water I have tried nearly everything to get it out but it hasn t stopped. I have had it for 4 days now, and it makes everything very hard to focus on. Please help.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it looks like the crackling sound on moving the jaw that is moving the mouth up and down seems to be probably due to causes like jaw joint dysfunction and not related to ear problem..
It can be due to causes like degeneration or damage to the articular disc that is present as a soft cushion between two bony ends of jaw joint..
Other causes can be dislocated articular disk, arthritic changes in jaw joint etc..
It can be an early signal and should be evaluated..

Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Panoromic x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now you can do massage at the jaw joint with gentle rounded motion of fingers..
Take a soft diet and also avoid excess mouth opening like during yawning and laughing..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
