What Causes Cramping Behind Breast And Around Shoulder Blade?

I am a female, aged 58. In the past few days I ve started having something like cramping behind my right breast and around to my back right shoulder blade. It isn t constant, just when I reach for something, get up to get out of bed or off of the sofa. Do you think that generally this could just be muscle spasms in an odd place?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question.

Your doubt is true, it's a muscle spasm as pain is there on movements only. It must have happened due to lifting some weight or jerk while exercising. As a practising physician I prescribe pain killers and muscle relaxant along with physiotherapy for two to three days to my patients with these symptoms and request them to come back if problem still persists. In that case a x ray is required to see if there is anything wrong with bones.

I would like to advise you to visit general practitioner in your area for examination and treatment.

I hope i have clarified your queries. Do write for follow up queries. I wish you faster recovery. Thank you
