What Causes Cramping Even Before Periods?

I got what appeared to be a normal period on August 8, and it lasted 5 days, and blood red in color, so I don t think it could ve been implantation bleeding. Now, the 20th I m cramping. Why am I cramping way before my period? My cycle is very abnormal. This last period was only my 4th all year. Me and my partner are trying to conceive.

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
hello,
considering that you have been having irregular periods for long and this was only your 4th period in the year, i presume that you may be suffering from PCOS. this is a syndrome seen in young adult women with high BMI, oligomenorrhoea and polycystic ovaries.
i suggest you undergo a pelvic ultrasound and a complete hormonal profile to check fo thyroid status, prolactin , testosterone, and fsh and lh values . they would help us diagnose you better.
