What Causes Cramps , Back Pain And Delay In Menstruation?

Hi,the first day of my last period was on 26/5/14..missed my period on 27/6..had two negative pregnancy tests and two faint positives. Does that still mean I am pregnant? Been having slight cramps similar to during periods, but no period is showing. Sore nipples and backache. I am worried about the cramps and should it be a concern?

Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.

From what you have written it looks like you are pregnant. The two negative tests initially were because the level of HCG – which is the pregnancy hormone, was low in the urine for the test to pick it up. As pregnancy progresses, the level of HCG in the blood would increase and this would spill out into your urine, hence you got the faint positive tests. You could repeat your pregnancy test in 3-4 days and see. Hopefully the lines would be a bit darker than before. (Pregnancy hormone level doubles once every 2-3 days).

The cramps and back pain (if mild) are common in early pregnancy. You could take a tablet of Paracetamol 500 mg and see if the cramps and back pain settle.

If the cramps/back pain worsen or if you have any spotting or bleeding, kindly see your doctor straightaway.

I hope this answer has helped you.

Thank you
Regards
