What Causes Cramps, Bleeding Or Fluid Discharge From Vagina After Mirena Insertion?
HI, My daughter had an Mirena IUD placed appr. 4 months ago. Initially, she recovered without any issue, then in the past couple weeks she has started to have very painful cramping daily, bleeding from both vagina and rectum, and clear, odorless discharge from her vagina. We are trying to figure out if we need to take her to the ER or wait until the gynecologist is open in two days. We would appreciate your input. Thanks,
Would definitely consider the ER, especially with the rectal bleeding, although if she has had this for 2 weeks without any significant change, it may be okay to wait 2 more days for the gynecologist. Certainly if the symptoms are getting worse, or something else like a fever is developing, then she should go to ER. It's possible she has developed an infection. Rarely the IUD might travel or rupture the uterine wall. Can't fully explain the rectal bleeding, though, and my concern is related to this combination of symptoms. If she were my daughter, I would take her to ER and not wait any longer for diagnosis. Hope this helps.
