What Causes Cramps In Her Lower Stomach Area?

My wife had cramps in her lower stomach area for a couple days, thought it was from eating something that did not agree with her- happens sometimes since her Gastric bypass surgery 6 years ago. But it went away after 3 days and now she has been running a fever-today is day 2

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

She may be running some systemic infection from intestine. If it had been gastroenteritis or toxin exposure may have lead to diarrhea by now. But since she has had fever after the onset of abdominal pain, a careful abdominal examination to rule out any visceral infection like cholecystitis or pancreatitis may be needed.

Ultrasound abdomen may also be needed. Other possibilities like enteric should be ruled out as well. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with anti spasmodic like Drotaverine can be helpful. If fever persists, oral antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
