What Causes Cramps In The Right Arm After Consuming Alcohol?

When I have a couple of alcoholic drinks, i get muscle cramps in my right hand. I am right handed. I take amlodpine 5 mg, simvistatin 20 mg, paxil 10 mg, and metroprolol 25 mg. Two years ago, I had a right cervical six through thoracic one posterior foraminotomies. Any thoughts or ideas?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, if you consume alcohol, especially ethanol gets converted to methanol and gives you pain all over the body. It usually happens in all drinkers, and to avoid that pain they again drink alcohol.

For the time being, the pain goes and they think pain goes due to alcohol, but actually, methanol after alcohol intake causing you all the pains. So, if you start stopping alcohol, then gradually all your problems will go away.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
