Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. Just a quick question....for the past 6 months or so, I have had the feeling as though my right eye was going cross-eyes. Makes me dizzy. When someone takes a look, they aren t actually crossed at all. Also, to make it better, I keep my head straight, then move my eyes to look straight up. That helps it. Moving my eyes to look down makes it so much worse. This sensation last about 5 minutes or so. Comes and goes maybe once, twice a day.
Hello, Thank you for your query. Your symptoms indicate a weakness in one of the muscles of the eye (lazy eye).
I recommend : -an ophthalmologist and neurologist consult. -an mri brain to check for anything compressing of the nerves responsible for eye movements -an equilibrium test and a complete neurological exam -avoid straining your eye. Wear sunglasses while out in the sun. -avoid driving till we figure out what is happening. -if you wear eye glasses, you need to have it re-evaluated.
If MRI brain is normal, regular eye exercises will help. Occasionally surgery maybe required to fix the lazy muscle. This does not correct the vision though for which you will still need glasses.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health
