What Causes Crust In Ear Canal?

Hi,Thank you for being available. My daughter had a slight fever, runny nose and has literally been screaming awake for the past 2 nights. During the day she seems ok, just a bit lethargic. Today, I just noticed a heavy crust around her ear canal. Should I be worried? Her fever does seem to have gone down.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is important to have her ear examination done with otoscope to see the nature of crust, status of canal, and tympanic membrane. It is important to differentiate whether it is a crust wax or discharge.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Tabassum Aziz
