What Causes Crusty Watery Discharge From The Eyes?

My eyes get very crusty overnight, very watery in the morning and dry, irritated and like a film over in the afternoon. Have seen my regular M.D. and an ophthalmologist, was on antibiotics and eye drop. They said maybe allergies. It is not going away and is affecting my life and how long it takes me to do anything. Who should I go see for help?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The crusty discharge from eyes narrates bacterial infection rather than the allergy.

I strongly recommend you to take a swab test of the discharge in the laboratory after prescription of your doctor and get the pathological diagnosis to treat it accordingly.

Till that time, continue cold water splashing of eyes every 4 hourly and drink more liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
