What Causes Cuts On The Tongue While On Anoro Ellipta?

I have been using Anoro Eliptor for about 7 weeks for a Emphysema diagnosis. It seems to be working well, however, I seem to be experiencing discomfort in my mouth. My tongue has splits in it but is not swollen; my whole mouth feel peppery. I've been using biotene for dry mouth. Is this a reaction to the Anoro?

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of cuts on the tongue while on Anoro Ellipta which is most common adverse effect of this medicine and it could cause throat discomfort as well.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult your oral pathologist once to get complete examination done and start treatment accordingly. Avoid intake of salty, spicy and sore food substances.

For now, do betadine rinses. Maintain complete oral hygiene and apply Orabase gel. Drink plenty of water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
