i had this white spot on my throat 5 minutes ago. i went to my doctor the other day for a physical and he did not notice it & neither did i. however the day after my physical i felt like i had a piece of pop corn in my throat. nothing was sore... no swelling.. no fever. so i made another appointment with him and he looked at the white spot. he smiled and said it was just a cyst. no infection no strep or pharyngitis... it was bothering me that i had it so i took a que tip with hydrogen peroxide and just swabbed the white spot-- not squishing it. i gargled warm water and within seconds it seems to have disappeared! what was this cyst caused by?
As per my knowledge, Common causes of throat cyst are: 1) Any throat infections 2) Salivary Gland obstruction 3) Thyroglossal duct obstruction 4) Idiopathic
Along with that some rare causes are malignancy also. So, I will suggest if cyst not dissolved automatically within few days, then you have to consult with ENT surgeon. Most of the time, cyst is not a major condition until not become complicated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
