What Causes Dark Brown Nasal Discharge And Persistent Headache?

So, the past couple of weeks, I have a very congested nose. The snot that comes out is either brown, gold, dark green, or a light green on good days. Also, I have had a almost constant headache. It s not migraine level, but it s is very annoying. Lastly, I don t have any allergies, but I do get migraines, and take medicine for it. Any chance it s something other than a cold?

Understaning your concern. As per your query you have dark brown nasal discharge and persistent headache . The dark colored discharge from nore is probably blood . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction , injury to the nose, repeated sneezing , upper respiratory infection and medicine like blood thinners . The symptoms can also occur due to high blood pressure .Consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like throat swab test , viral culture test , CT scan for sinusitis , nasal endoscopy for nasal polyp . and blood test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , anti allergic along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for head injyry or cardiologist for blood pressure related condition . Apply cold compresse to nose and take anti histamine like bendryl .
