What Causes Dark Colored, Sticky Vaginal Discharge?

Hi.. I have not had a period for 2 months now, I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative. Today, my period came on but its a dark brown color, its sticky, and I kind of notice a funny smell to it. what should I do? im freaking out right now
