What Causes Dark-coloured Vaginal Spotting After An Intercourse?

I have had sexual experiences before but never had an experience quite like this current one. A few days ago, I had intercourse and experienced a light(flow-wise) dark-coloured spotting hours later. After about 12 hours after intercourse, I noticed dark brown clumps of (what I think to be) blood.

It's been a while since I've had any penetration, so my current partner and I took the initiative to lubricate and use protection during sex. My partner tends to lean towards deep, rough intercourse (something I haven't had before). I don't take birth control/hormonal pills and I have a tendency to skip a menstrual month or two (on occasion). The last time I had a period was about two months ago. Could the dark bleeding be because I haven't had my period yet? Or could it be because of the rough sex?

Hello,

Dark colored blood (spotting) may be due to old blood that may be coming out as you have multiple orgasms. You have taken protection during sex so chances of pregnancy in low / or not there. Vaginal dryness can also cause dark colored spotting, keep your vagina lubricated during sex. Some tearing or bleeding from your vagina or cervix due to deep penetrative sex can also cause bleeding.

You are advised to keep yourself well lubricated or to avoid rough or deep penetration. The tears in the vagina & cervix will heal by itself, no worries. Take care of your hygiene, if pain or soreness, take naproxen. you can apply ointment Soframycin on affected areas of cut or tears. Avoid sex for a couple of days till you heal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
