Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
24 year old white mail, very fit, no alcohol or drugs, high protein diet, have a recurring issue with very frequent diarrhea, dark loose stools, lower intestinal issues, loosing weight.Has been to a medical facility two weeks ago, had subsided, and has returned with same symptoms. Help...he is long distance from me.
I understand your concern. Your friend is suffering from dark stools, frequent diarrhea. Dark stools are due to blood in stool which are getting hemolysed. Now he is losing weight too, and this the concern. He might be suffering from chronic ulcer in stomach or duodenum, gastrointestinal infection or some growth in his intestine. Even after visiting the hospital, the symptoms had recurred. My advice is he should get his Abdominal ultrasonography and stomach endoscopy do done. If nothing is found than he should get his colonoscopy done. Meanwhile he should take Cap. Omeprazole twice daily for 10 days, Ofloxacin+Ornidazole combination twice daily for 5 days to reduce acidity and cure the gastrointestinal infection.
