What Causes Dark Discoloration Of Facial Skin?

Hello Doctor. Good morning. I have aproblem of skin darkening. My complete face has turned very dark, and the skin colour of my face can be easily distinguished from the neck's skin colour ( though the neck has turned dark, but not as much as face.) I am using a sunscreen daily, but it makes my skin oily and appear more dark. sometimes due to oiliness, pimples appear on my face making it more patchy due to pimple marks. My face has become so dark that in all my photos my face skin appears so different from my body's skin colour that it appears someone else's head is placed on my neck! Even if I use a bleach, sometimes the results are good and sometimes it makes my skin more dark. Can you please suggest some cream for daily use and night cream which will bring back my face's original complexion---Somebody posted above problem already, and I have this same problem, I am working in software company as Team lead, spending 9 hours on computer, I am married and aged about 34, Vegetarian.

Hi dear ,

As per our query your skin complexion getting darker and darker . Well the dark complexion of skin occur due to excessive production of melanin pigment from melanocyte . There are many trigger factors that can trigger melanocytes to produce melanin like excessive sun exposure , hormonal changes and side effects of cosmetic products . I would suggest you to stop using all the cosmetic products that you are using at present , satart washing your face with face wash containing benzoyl peroxide with cold water , apply cream containing kojic acid ( kojivit ) after washing face twice a day , exfoliate your face twice a week to remove dead skin , use sunscreen for oily skin only when under sun exposure and apply aloe vera gel at night before going to bed . If condition doesn't improve in a month then consult dermatologist for proper evaluation . Doctor may prescribe isoteritinoin , retinoids and recommend procedure like chemical peeling and laser therapy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
