What Causes Dark Discoloration On The Legs After Taking Plavix, Aspirin And Lisinopril?

I am 78, and have been taking Plavix 75 mg and baby aspirin with Lisinopril 40 mg and Toprol 25 mg. I began these after a mild heart attack and 2 stents 6.5 years back. I have noticed a darkening of skin on legs- ankle and a little in the calf area. I wonder Plavix could be the culprit.

Hi,

It appears to be due to bleeding caused by the antiplatelet drugs. Plavix (Clopidogrel) and Aspirin are anti-platelet drugs which are commonly used to prevent heart attacks and strokes in persons with heart disease (recent heart attack).

Bleeding is one of the most important side effects of these drugs which may be in the form of uncontrolled bleeding from gums or nose, black stools, or dark skin discoloration. I advise you to consult your treating doctor for proper clinical evaluation and for possible discontinuing one of anti-platelet drugs.
