What Causes Dark Discolouration And Swelling Of Fingers?

Last night my middle finger started swelling and turning blue foe no apparent reason. I put it in ice water which controlled the swelling somewhat, bit now today its blackish-blue and still swollen, I can bend it, but is very stiff. Do I need to be concerned?

Hi.
Thanks for our query.
Noted your history of unexplained swelling and blueness to the middle finger last night for which you did icing; it is appearing blackish blue today with stiffness but you still can bend it.
This apparently must be due to infection as there is a color change and you should be concerned , consult a Doctor to get a clinical diagnosis and get treated accordingly. You may need an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines.
I find this answer helpful
