What Causes Dark Discolouration Under The Big Toe While Suffering From Neuropathy?
Part of my big toe is black underneath the nail. I noticed it one evening, and thought I may have dropped something on my toe. Since I have neuropathy, it is hard to feel bumps. It has not gone away, and I wonder if it ever will if it is bruised beneath the nail?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... 1.The most common culprit for a black toenail is blood under the hard tissue. Damage to the end of the toe causes blood to leak through the nail bed and stain the keratin a dark color. Typically the problem develops from repeated trauma over time, however, it can be the result of one sudden, traumatic injury to the foot. 2.Diabetic foot is 2nd common reason. This is common inpatients with diabetic neuropathy. It may start as numbness and darkening of toe 3.Other common cause is fungal infections which occur, if debris collects under the nail. 4.A malignant melanoma tumor can rarely develop under your nail, turning it dark. Which is deadly and should always be investigated.
so you should visit your doctor, he would differentiate by clinical features
