What Causes Dark Itchy Patches On The Lower Lip?

About 3weeks ago, I suddenly had an itching sensation in the left side of my lower lip. After that I noticed the appearance of some dark patches on the spot I felt the sensation and other areas on my lower lip. These patches are still there. What could it be? Thanks

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Dark itchy patches on the lips can be due to causes like Allergic reaction to any lip cosmetic or toothpaste, excessive sun exposure, Lentigo etc..
Peutz Jeghers Syndrome is also a condition that can be associated..

So first of all consult an Emergency room and get evaluated so that appropriate cause can be ruled out..

For now you can apply cool compresses over the lips and take anti histamines like Levocetrizine to reduce itching..
Avoid any skin cosmetics and along with it avoid too much sun exposue..
Do not lick you lips..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
