What Causes Dark Pigmentation Of Cut After Healing?
I have had diabetes for 30+yrs. when I get a cut and heal (usually very quickly). The cut becomes much darker than the rest of my skin. I m Indian(India) and not sure why there is hyper pigmentation in theses areas. I never used to heal that way. I m 50yrs old
It is the normal skin tendency to heal any wound by its natural way.In your case if excessive scarring or hyper pigmentation could be because of over-active melanocytes, the pigment producing cells.
It may also occur if the would was infected or it was allowed to be healed under sepsis.means if there is no strict aseptic precaution were not taken during cleaning of the wound.
Depending upon the depth of injury, this could potentially leave deep bruising and even scarring.
Hydroquinone cream is intended for and should be used exclusively for hyperpigmentation relating to over-active melanocytes (pigment producing cells in the skin).
Local or topical steroid cream or ointment like betamethsone or clobetasol are equally effective but should be taken under doctor's guidance.
