Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dark Red Discoloration Under Fingernail While On Bystolic And Levothyroxine?
Under my fingernails I have noticed a dark red color close to the end of my finger, I have never seen this before. I am wondering if it is some of the medications that I take. I take Fenofibrate, levothyroxine, bystolic, mineral with vitamin D, a multi vitamin and osteo byflex.
The Bystolic is a beta blocker and can cause certain circulatory disturbances with adverse effect profile or as part of overdose toxicity. If there is tingling and numbness with the dark red discoloration under fingernails , it must be attributed to the intake of Bystolic and the same should be discussed with your treating physician on emergency basis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
