What Causes Dark Skin Around Anus?

I have some dark skin about 2 inches around my anus that extends into the perineum and into the folds of the groin. No itching or other symptoms are apparent, but the skin itself is rather embarrassing for when I am amorous. Is it something I should be concerned about?

You might have developed fungal infection.
Your description matches with that.
Usually fungal infections are itchy and recurrent.
Please get a KOH mount done,
This can confirm the fungal etiology.
Treatment can be with oral antifungals as well as with topical antifungals.
Treatment must be continued for at least a month to prevent recurrance.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
