What Causes Dark Skin In Genital Area And Buttocks?

hello doctor , i am a 19 year old person from india , i am having skin problems , my overall body complexion is very fair , but i have very dar skin in my genital areas and buttocks , i am kind of ashamed of it myself , when my full bod is fair and these parts are darker its kind of weird , please do help me doctor , atleast let me know why this is caused .

Hi there. The problem you are describing is fairly common in India. It has got genetic roots. But also , repeated fungal infections, allergy to the type of clothes may be the factors responsible. If its associated with lot of itching be sure that its 99% due to fungal infection which may be treated with antifungal powders, creams containing ingredients such as cotrimoxazole. You may also keep he area dry, change type of inner wear.And see whether it lghtens up a bit after teatment for few days......If its not fungal, then you may use some lightening creams like Melacare which will lower your Melanin pigmentation.
