What Causes Dark Spots In The Line Of Vision Post A Cataract Surgery?

My brother had cataract surgery this morning. He called me to say he sees a line thru his vision and dark spots on either side of sight. I didn t think the eye shield should be removed until morning when he visits the surgeon and it is removed then. I just want him to be careful with his eyes. He can t remember doctor saying to leave patch on til tomorrow. Yikes!!

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,

They can be floaters and muscivolitantes. Degenerative particle floating in vitreous for them there is no treatment, they are to be kept under watch and if there is a sudden increase in number, then exclude peripheral detachment holes and tear fundus examination required preferably indirect ophthalmoscopy for wider view exclude glaucoma and take repeated IoT. Field tracing may be done consult endocrinologist for examination and diagnosis treatment can be recommended accordingly can apply laser for sealing peripheral detachment to avoid future detachment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
