What Causes Dark Spots On Tonsils?

I have a dark spot on my tonsils, i went and got a rapid strep test and it was neg. The doctor on had thought it could be food, but i'm certain that it is not because it has been there for a couple of days and i've tried to clear it with a Q-Tip. What could it be?

Hello

There can be many reasons for the dark spots , the most common of which is a viral infection. Please dont try to remove them and have patience, they will resolve once the infection is cured. Please gargle with warm salt water 2-3 times a day, it will help.
