Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have endometriosis and adenmyosis. Last month I had a normal menstreral cycle and on the 27th I started spotting dark blood and like I was going to start with pain and cramping, but only lasted one day and since then I was waiting on my mensteral cycle for this month and I am now 10 days late I have taken three pregnancy tests and they all came back negative. What could this be?
Pregnancy tests detect the HCG hormone which is normally detectable by day 11 to 14 after conception. If this time frame has already passed then the tests are accurate and you are not pregnant. If this time has not passed, then the tests can be repeated in a few days.

What Causes Dark Vaginal Spotting?
Hi, Pregnancy tests detect the HCG hormone which is normally detectable by day 11 to 14 after conception. If this time frame has already passed then the tests are accurate and you are not pregnant. If this time has not passed, then the tests can be repeated in a few days. The endometriosis and adenomyosis can contribute to irregular periods. The other causes: (1) emotional illness or stress (2) side effect of medications such as hormonal medication (3) thyroid disease (4) physical illness (5) polycystic ovarian syndrome- in this condition there are cysts in the ovaries (6) high levels of a hormone called prolactin (7) excess physical activity (8) inadequate diet If you wish, you can consider blood tests (such as thyroid function tests and prolactin levels) and imaging to take a look. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Amrita
